Israeli cell phone giant Cellcom left millions of Israeli customers without service today after a network outage. Harsh reality for the holy land, which averages 2.1 cellphones per family. In other family matters, CellCom CEO Amos Shapira pulled a Grinch by threatening to take away first night of Hanukkah from employees.
Quoth the Jerusalem Post:
I took the time to speak to the media, because it is important for me to look our customers in the eye and apologize to them. Millions of users did not receive the standard of service they have come to rely on and for that I sincerely apologize. I can guarantee that none of us will be leaving to light the first Hannukah candle with our families until a solution is found…
As of 9:15PM Israel time, some English-speaking Twitter users are reporting that their Cellcom service has been restored.
